Sennelier oil stick

It is a transposition of oil painting. These colors are of an extra-fine quality: the pure pigments are ground with vegetable oils (siccatives), selected for their low yellowing in time. The choice and the high concentration of pigments allow an excellent light fastness. These colors can be applied directly on traditional oil painting supports (fat or universal) and require a quality preparation of the base.

The oil stick can be used on canvas, canvas boards, prepared panels, painting paper. The solid oil paint should be applied in a thin film (not exceeding 1 mm). It can be overlaid in the same way as oil paint in paste form and can be diluted with petroleum spirit or turpentine. Before use, it is necessary to peel off the surface film. This film will reform after a few days of non-use. The applied paint dries between 2 to 5 days, depending on the thickness of the layer and the atmospheric conditions. A colorless medium is available that allows for transparency and glazing effects.

The extra fine solid colors have opaque or transparent shades depending on the nature of the pigments used. The product keeps very well over time and does not require any special precautions except the need to avoid a source of heat that could alter it. Once dry, the paint is varnished like a traditional oil paint after a minimum of 6 months of drying, with a final varnish to paintings.
