Gansai E-ZUMI Japanese Watercolors
Gansai E-zumi watercolors are made by carefully mixing high quality natural starch and nikawa glue with the synthetic dye used in Suihi pigments. Although both pigments are placed in porcelain dishes for drying, they are named differently depending on the shape of the dish: those in a square cup are called "Gansai" and those in a round cup "Teppachi". Characterized by transparent and clear colors, they are used for illustration, Haihu painting, Nanga painting, Nihonga, watercolor and underpainting when mineral pigments are used. E-zemi watercolors are a range of warm and cool tinted blacks available individually or in sets.
